The BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, is a Government College established in the Year 1972 serving the people of Purvanchal. The College is affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University located in Uttar Pradesh and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) with an annual intake of 150 MBBS seats and 90 seats in 20 disciplines of Postgraduate studies.
The campus Spreads over lush Green area of 147.6 acres which houses main medical college building, teaching hospital, Doctors staff Quarters, Resident doctor hostel, Boys and Girls hostel, Playground and offer Supportive facilities. There are very good spacious gallery type Lecture halls in the college and in the hospital. There are Examination halls & Demonstration rooms. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories, Departmental Museums and Auditorium. Library and information center is located in a huge area with good collection of Medical Books, Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and a Digital Library. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports with volleyball and badminton facilities.
The Teaching Hospital
Nehru Hospital is a G+3 level 700 bedded hospital, with an additional 108 beds in the epidemic ward. It accommodates various departments of clinical subjects, X-ray facilities, central registration of patients (indoor and outdoor), emergency services, intensive care unit, epidemic ward, blood bank, drug distribution center, ART and VCTC Centre for treatment and diagnosis of HIV positive patients, DOTS and microscopy center for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis patients, and 1 Lecture Theatre (seating capacity=450). The hospital also manages a diagnostic center as public – private partnership for advanced investigations like computerized tomography scan (CT Scan) and Doppler ultrasound. It is the only tertiary care centre in a 300 km2 region around Gorakhpur.

The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body
Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC.

Eligibility Condition:
There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB, are conducted by MCC through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

4. Candidates who want to avail PwD reservation in PG seats of Govt. medical institution should obtain Disability Certificate as per 21 Benchmark Disabilities given under RPWD Act 2106 and as per DMC norm, front the designated disability centers as per the List. The certificate issued by any other hospital/board will not be accepted. |
5. In case of any dispute or vagueness DGME can constitute a special medical board for dispute redressal. |
6. Candidate eligible for the reserved category will be given admission as per rules of the state government, applicable on the date of counseling. |
7. OBC candidates covered by the provisions of the creamy layer will not be entitled for the benefits of OBC category |
8. Candidates who fail to produce required original documents at the time of admission or if any, concealment or falsification of facts comes into the light at the time of admission and thereafter during the course of study will not be entitled to any benefit of having appeared in the entrance examination and/ or any benefit or acquiring a seat subsequently. Legal action would be taken against such candidates. " |
9. Candidates will be checked for their identity at the time of admission. If it does not match it will be counted as unfair means and their candidature will be cancelled. Additional legal action would be taken against such candidates. |
10. If candidate does not participate in online counseling or does not take admission to the allotted seat by the due date he/she shall forfeit any right of admission on the basis of said counseling/allotment. |
11. The option once exercised by the candidate in the online counseling cannot be altered under any circumstances. |
12. No request for re-allotment of seals already allotted in the first and second round will be entertained. |
If seats are left un-allotted at the end of the second round of online counseling, then a “mop up” round of allotment will be organized at a notified date, after due publicity. The purpose of the mop up round of seat allotment will be to ensure that there is no loss of PG seats in the current academic year. Seats will be offered to eligible candidates strictly according to their position in the NEET PG- 2023 State Rank/All India Rank

Admission of the candidate to various PG courses will be given by the Principal / Dean / Director/ Nodal center of the respective Medical Colleges/ Institutes/Universities as mentioned in allotment letter.
