The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body
Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC.

Eligibility Condition:
There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB, are conducted by MCC through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

The medical aspirants seeking MD/MS/MDS admission at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh will have to register themselves for the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh admission process by filling out their application form. GMCH, MD/MS/MDS admission is done on the basis of marks secured in NEET. There will be two rounds of Chandigarh NEET 2023 counseling and an additional mop-up round will be conducted by the authority if seats remain vacant.
After the release of the provisional GMCH MBBS PG merit list, the candidates whose names are included in it will have to take part in the document verification session. Candidates will have to furnish all the relevant documents to the authority for verification purposes. After the verification process, the authority will release the final Chandigarh MBBS PG merit list which includes the candidate's merit rank along with their NEET roll no. Candidates will be called for choice filling and locking of courses and colleges on the basis of their GMCH MBBS PG merit rank. Economically Weaker Section (EWS). The eligibility criteria for EWS Category is as follows:- Persons who are not covered under the existing scheme of reservations for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes and whose family has gross annual income below Rs. 8.00 lakh are to be identified as EWSs for the benefit of reservation. Family for this purpose will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.The income shall include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be income for the financial year prior to the year of application. The First State Counselling for admission to MD/MS Course 2022 will be held on 04th October, 2022 at 11.00 a.m. in the office of Director Principal, Block D, Level-II, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The schedule of counselling will be as follows |
All candidates have to report at Radiotherapy OPD Area, Level-II, Block-B of the institute at 9:00 a.m. on 04-10-2022 |
The Document Verification will start at 09:30 A.M. on 04-10-2022 in Board Room, Level-II, Block-D of the institute. |
The fee for MD/MS first year course will be Rs. 32,728/- and same will be required to be deposited via credit/debit cards and UPI. |

Candidates who have been allotted seat in first counseling should surrender it in writing before participating in second or subsequent counseling. The surrender of seat must be approved by competent authority before the candidate is allowed to participate in the second or subsequent counseling. If candidate fails to do so, he/she will not be allowed to participate in the counseling. |
Procedure for surrendering allotted seat- Selected candidate should submit a letter notifying surrender of allotted seat, in person, to Director-Principal/Registrar Academics at least a day prior to 2nd or subsequent counseling/or as notified on the website. Letter submitted by anybody else, other than candidate himself/herself surrendering the seat, will not be accepted |
In the second counselling, the combined merit list will be followed first. The candidates will be allotted seats as per their own merit irrespective of any category. After that, SC category candidates and EWS category candidates will be allotted seats which are reserved for these categories |
Any seat(s) reserved for Schedule Castes candidates and EWS category candidate remaining unfilled from Institutional Preference Pool (IP) or UT Chandigarh Pool on account of non-availability of eligible candidates shall be converted into General Category Seat and will be filled from eligible General candidates of respective pool as per reservation policy of Chandigarh Administration applicable to Medical institutions in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, notified vide letter No. 19/1/3/93/IH(3)/11138, Dated: 07.06.1995.. |
