The Government Medical College, Pudukottai, is a Government College established in the Year 2017. The Medical college is affiliated to The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) and has an annual intake of 150 seats in MBBS. It is the first college in Tamil Nadu to admit 150 students in its first year of its inauguration in 2017, and is the 22nd government medical college and hospital in the state of Tamil Nadu. Being the only medical college of this district it caters to patients from four districts namely Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Trichy & Sivaganga districts. It is well-connected by air, road and rail to all major cities like Trichy, Thanjavur and Madurai. The nearest airport is at Trichy (45kms).
The College and hospital buildings were constructed on about 127 acres of land with a very modern and eco-friendly campus with state of the art infrastructure. There are technology infused Lecture halls to accommodate around 200+, Examination rooms, Demonstration rooms, Seminar halls. There are Departmental museums and well-equipped Laboratories. There is a huge Auditorium located deep inside the campus. There are good Canteens and Recreation halls for students. There are separate hostel facilities for Boys and Girls and Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports facilities. The college has a spacious library area with an excellent collection of Medical books and International and National Journals, back volumes, Atlases, Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopaedias, Technical Reports. There are separate Reading rooms and the E- library has good Internet facility. The college has pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical disciplines.

There is a 700 bedded attached Hospital to treat patients from surrounding districts as well. An average daily Out-Patient record of 1100 is recorded. There are well-equipped Operation theatres and ICU's to treat patients. 24X7 emergency and trauma care facility, Eye bank and blood bank facilities are available. There are very good clinical and diagnostic facilities in the Hospital. The Hospital has facilities for burn treatment, Critical care services, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Forensic Medicine.

The candidates who are claiming Nativity of Tamil Nadu should furnish their Certificates of Nativity of Tamil Nadu issued by the competent authority and supported by the following documents: Valid copy of Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, Voter’s ID, Passport and Proof of Parent’s Documents is Mandatory (Aadhar Card and School Certificates) *If copy of the supporting documents is not produced, then the application will be summarily rejected. |

The Rank list will be drawn based on marks obtained in NEET PG 2022 and the additional weightage marks awarded to eligible in-service candidates who have qualified in NEET PG -2022 as per the existing norms. |
The service candidates shall be awarded an additional weightage upto 10% of the marks secured in the NEET PG-2022 per year of completion of service in remote and or /difficult or rural areas as per in G.O.(Ms).No.86, Health and family welfare (MCA1) Department, dated 06.03.2019, G.O.(Ms.).No.114 Health & Family Welfare Department (MCA-1) Department dated 29.3.2019 and G.O.(Ms.).No.423 Health & Family WelfareDepartment (MCA-1) Department dated 26.9.2019 subjectto maximum of 30% of marks secured in NEET PG-2022. |

There are four rounds of counseling i.e., Round -1 Round -2, Mop- up and Stray vacancy round.(Stray Vacancy round will be conducted by the respective Self Financing Colleges from the merit list being furnished by the selection committee)
First Round of counselling (a)(i) Admission to PG Degree / Diploma courses, shall be made through online counselling. The detailed online counselling procedures are available in annexure. (ii) A Candidate who has not registered and not choice locked in the 1st round of ONLINE COUNSELLING will be permitted to attend the subsequent rounds of ONLINE COUNSELING. (iii) A candidate who has taken a seat and Joined/not joined /discontinued the course within the stipulated time in the first round of counselling, he/she is eligible to attend the Secound round of ONLINE COUNSELLING. (b) Re-allotment is permitted during the subsequent rounds of online counselling, based on Rank. (c) Mutual transfer/ Individual request for transfer of college will not be permitted under any circumstances. |
The tuition fee is not refundable if the candidate does not join after collecting the provisional allotment order in second round of online counselling. |
The candidates (Management Quota/NRI) who discontinue the course on or after the second round of counselling should pay the Discontinuation Fees as specified below, to the Deans of the respective Colleges, the sum as specified below in total by means of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10”, payable at Chennai For P.G. Diploma Course ₹10 lakh /Degree Course ₹15 Lakh Unless the aforesaid discontinuation fee as penalty amount is paid in total, the candidates will not be relieved and original certificates produced by the candidates at the time of admission will be retained by the concerned institutions. |
Second Round of Counselling (i) Second round of counseling will be conducted for the vacancies arising after first round as per the rank list through online. (ii) If the candidates discontinue /Not joined the course after completion of round 2 of ONLINE CONSELLING, they will have to forfeit the processing fee, security Deposit & tuition fee paid by them (iii)Virtual Vacancies- Any Candidate who has been allotted a seat in Round 1 and has opted for up-gradation in Round 2, that allotted seats of Round 1 will be shown as virtual vacancy in Round 2 and Candidates can fill the said seat during the choice filling in Round 2. However, such seats will be allotted in Round 2 if the allottee of Round 1 vacates / upgrades in Round 2. When that virtual vacancy becomes real vacancy, it is open to all in the order of merit. |
MOPUP Round counseling (a) After completion of second round of online counselling if there is any vacancy that will be filled by mop-up round. b) If the candidate is allotted any seat from his /her locked choices in first and second rounds and has Joinedthey are not eligible for the Mop-up counseling and subsequent rounds of counseling.
