The Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar was established in the Year 2007. The campus houses a medical college with 250 MBBS annual admissions, 105 seats in 20 disciplines of Post Graduate Courses and 9 Super-specialty Courses in 4 departments. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated with the KIIT University (Deemed), Bhubaneswar. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences 32 overall in India in 2020 among medical rankings.

There are four AC lecturers hall for 180 students each pursuing studies in MBBS. The classrooms are designed as per the international standard and the teaching here will be imparted with help of the most sophisticated teaching aids including the LCD projectors. Every department of KIMS is having its own demo rooms provided with adequate Audio-visual facilities, which gives better acquaintance of the teaching facilities for students. KIMS has separate, well-organized Boys, Girls common rooms with attached toilets and recreational facilities. KIMS has its own air-conditioned Conference Hall/Auditorium Hall well equipped with a light and sound system. KIMS will also have access to AC Auditorium of KIIT, which has a seating capacity of 1600.

Library & Study Centre: KIMS, as a wing of KIIT, will have access to a well-stocked central library, reference section & online web journal facilities. Besides, KIMS own library housed in a five-storied building over 24,000 sq ft has a stock of the latest editions of medical, paramedical, and general books by prominent authors and journals from Indian and international publishers.

KIMS has separate Boys, Girls hostels for UG students, PG students, Interns, Residents, Staff Nurses with round-the-clock wireless internet and intranet connectivity. Each hostel has a 24-hour reading room and facility for indoor and outdoor games.

Recreation Facilities: With one of the biggest in-campus indoor and outdoor stadiums, KIIT provides a facility for all indoor and outdoor games.

  • Outdoor Stadium - A sprawling stadium has a facility for Cricket (turf wicket), Hockey (astroturf), Kabaddi, Football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Throwball, Basketball, Rugby, Handball, Netball and Track & Field (400 m).
  • Indoor Stadium -( Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium) - is the hub for indoor sports activities of the University. It is one of the biggest in-campus indoor stadiums in the country. Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton Billiards & Snooker (air-conditioned) Chess, Carom Health Club 12 Station Mukigym, Yoga Centre & Swimming Pool

Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences and Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital (KIMS & PBMH)

Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital 1750+ bedded tertiary care hospital, super-specialist services for total health care under a single roof. It offers specialty and super specialty services, including state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities to ensure the delivery of holistic patient care.

The hospital offers super specialty services in a number of departments including Nephrology; Cardiology & Cardiothoracic; Pediatrics Surgery; Gastroenterology; Oncology & Onco Surgery; Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery; Urology; Neurology & Neuro Surgery; Endocrinology; Rheumatology, besides specialty services in almost all disciplines. It has 100 air-conditioned cabins, 100 ICU Beds, and 50 Pediatric and Neonatal ICU beds with an ultramodern ventilator facility. Some other features of the Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital include 16 Modern Operation Theatres, 24-hour Casualty and Trauma Care, 24-hrs high-end ambulance service, 8 Computerized Dialysis Machines, and a 24-hour blood bank facility.

It also has one of the best Radio diagnosis departments with Digital X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT Scan, MRI scan, Dexa Scan, and Mammogram. The department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology has Endoscopy, Endoscopic ultrasound, Fibrscan, and does EVL, TIPSS, ERCP, and ESWL, and other therapeutic procedures. The department of Cardiology has an advanced Catheterization Laboratory, Cardiac ICUs, and Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation facility (ECMO) besides Electro Physiologic Studies (EPS) where (ECMO) besides Electro Physiologic Studies (EPS) where why hospitals should have a strict antibiotic stewardship critical patients are treated.

With a footfall of over 3 lakh + outpatients and 50000+ inpatients every year, it provides an excellent range of clinical material to undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) students and researchers.

Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar NEETPG Counseling is conducted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)

MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) COUNSELING PROCESS:-

The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body

Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC.

Step Wise Counseling Process conducted by MCC

There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB, are conducted by MCC through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

  3. The candidate is not satisfied with the present allotment and wishes to participate in the next round of counselling. The previously allotted seat is forfeited and offered to the next eligible candidate
  4. Not satisfied with MCC allotted seat and candidate has got seat elsewhere, so candidate is quitting and not to be considered for allotment of seats in any of the further rounds
