The Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai is established in Year 1985. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC)   and is affiliated with the  Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research (Deemed to be University) SRMC & RI (DU), Chennai. The college offers 250 seats in MBBS, Postgraduate Courses in 24 departments a Super Specialty course in 22 departments. Spread over 150 acres, the University is housed in a refreshingly green campus. Well-manicured lawns, sprawling open spaces, and trees dot the campus. The Institution is included in the World Health Directory and is recognized by the General Medical Council, UK, Ireland Medical Council, Thailand Medical council, and Sri Lankan Medical Council thus giving students an opportunity to widen their horizons in carving their careers. It’s among the best 5 medical institutes in Tamil Nadu and 10 among the best colleges in India.

The college has world-class infrastructure, It has tall buildings and an excellent Wi-Fi-enabled campus, and ultra-modern labs and facilities in classrooms. The classrooms culminate the advances of the 21st-century technology boom and modern medical education to provide well-equipped air-conditioned lecture halls, state-of-art world-class laboratories, and technology-enabled learning to the students. The Institute has 5 air-conditioned auditoriums/examination halls 

A centrally air-conditioned large library, known as Sri Ramachandra Harvard Learning Centre is ideally located in an area of 40,000 sq. ft. The students and faculty gain free access to it round the clock. There are separate hostel facilities for both men and women students with 3500 single rooms inside the campus to accommodate undergraduate and postgraduate students in medical, dental, and other disciplines. Hostels are also equipped with internet facilities for the benefit of the inmates. 

The College has a Sports Complex with a sprawling campus consisting of a state-of-the-art gymnasium, swimming pool, playgrounds, an indoor stadium for billiards, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis available for the students and faculty. Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC) is a quaternary care multi-specialty hospital that is the focus of the clinical teaching activity of the institute. The hospital consists of an Outpatient block, inpatient blocks functions in two blocks,  A 1700+ bedded facility with the  ICU (92 ICU beds,) 25 operation theatres largest in the region with state-of-the-art equipment, the medical center is a tertiary care facility that provides the trainee with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills from the finest doctors in the country.

Key specialties at the hospital include but not limited to Anesthesiology, Audiology, Cardiac Anesthesia, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dermatology, Dietetics, Dentistry, ENT, General Medicine, General Surgery, Medical Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics, and Gynecology (Including high-risk obstetric cases), Internal Medicine, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Physiotherapy, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, Spine Clinic, Surgical Gastroenterology, Urology, Vascular Surgery.

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Science, Sri Ramachandra University is well equipped containing several states of the art equipment, which includes several Color Dopplers, MDCT (Light Speed Ultra), 1.5T MRI, Biplane 3D Rotational DSA (Advantax LCN+), besides several plain X-ray units and SPECT.

The Central Laboratory of Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre is situated in the 1st floor of Shri. Ramasamy Udayar Block. The fully air conditioned laboratory is located in an area of about 6000 sq. feet and performs approximately 14,000 diagnostic tests per day. It has a spacious blood collection area and separate processing areas for Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Hematology and Clinical Microbiology samples. The Laboratory has got sophisticated fully automated biochemistry analyzers, cell counters, automated culture identification and susceptibility systems.

Geriatric Care Clinic (GCC) is a pioneering attempt in SRMC to address the problems unique to the older adults, be it physical, psychological, or social, associated with aging. It is as a one-stop center for comprehensive care for individuals above the age of 50 in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Sri Ramachandra hospital provides healthcare services to the economically weaker sections of society. Over 3500 out-patients attend the outpatient clinics daily. It provides core health care for the rural community and there are telemedicine services integrated with the PAN -African network.

Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, NEETPG  Counseling is conducted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)

MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) COUNSELING PROCESS:-

The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body 

Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the  documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC

Step Wise Counseling Process conducted by MCC

 There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2,  Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB,  are conducted by MCC  through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

  3. The candidate is not satisfied with the present allotment and wishes to participate in the next round of counselling. The previously allotted seat is forfeited and offered to the next eligible candidate
  4. Not satisfied with MCC allotted seat and candidate has got seat elsewhere, so candidate is quitting and not to be considered for allotment of seats in any of the further rounds
