Gajra Raja Medical College

 has the credit of being the first medical college in Madhya Pradesh and 17th Medical College of India  which was established in 1946.  It is a Government Medical college which is governed by G R Medical College Society under the Department of Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh. It was inaugurated on 1 August 1946 by Jiwaji Rao Scindia. The college building was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 5 December 1948. It has 150 undergraduate seats for MBBS course, 68 seats for post graduation courses and 36 seats for diploma courses.

It is is affiliated to Jiwaji University, Gwalior and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC), India. The Medical College has an annual intake of 180 MBBS seats, 157 seats in 15 disciplines of Post-Graduate studies and 8 seats in 1 discipline of Super-Specialization studies. The college was inaugurated by Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia, the ruler of Gwalior state. The college was recognized by the Medical Council of India in 1946. Postgraduate training started in 1951. The medical college was given autonomous status, governed by a board of members, at the end of 1997. 

The Medical college is spread in over a very huge campus of over 120.24 acres with all the in-house facilities and a great infrastructure. There are good spacious 9 Lecture halls in total to accommodate over 1380, Demonstration rooms for each department, Examination hall, Very good Departmental museums which has a greatly advanced Anatomy labs and other labs for clinical exposure. Huge Auditoriums with a seating capacity of 1200 and Seminar halls are in place. There are common rooms for Boys and Girls. Separate Hostels for boys and girls with mess facility. Recreational activities like Indoor and Outdoor games which includes Lawn Tennis court, Badminton court, Cricket ground, Table Tennis etc. Central Library is spread in a very wide area with separate reading rooms for UG, PG and Staff.  It has good collection of Medical Books of over 23,900 and over 100 nos of Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for the students & Teaching Staff. There is a Digital Library with over 73 computers in the Central Library. 

The Attached Hospital

Jaya Arogya Hospital

Jaya Arogya Hospital also known as JAH was built during the period of Late Madhav Rao Scindia and was inaugurated formally in 1899.  A total of 400 beds were available in 1946, in the main building, In the main building of the hospital Medical & Surgical wing for male and female patients separately on either side of the hospital on the ground and first floor. The second floor was used for ophthalmic ward and a museum. This main hospital building of this erstwhile service hospital accommodated the pathology section on the ground floor. A separate building building provided for about fifty maternity beds. Facilities were available for normal deliveries and for obstetrics surgery e.g., a caesarian section or ectopic pregnancy was done in the female surgical ward in the main building. The Operations were performed in the operation theatre of JA Hospital, where gynecological and female surgical cases too were operated. At present the bed strength of Hospital is about 1200 beds. Hospital is equipped with the all the modern equipments. After the inception of Department of Neurosurgery in 1972, it became first hospital to acquire the facility of Neurosurgery and Neurology in the State. The Hospital Building for the Neurology section was started in 19 and was inaugurated as Dr. Bhagwat Sahai Neurosurgery Hospital in 198 . Since then it is running as a separate hospital with all the facilities for investigations and is now at the verge of acquiring Spiral CT Scan and MR Imaging system.

Kamla Raja Hospital

The hospital is about 450 bedded and has a pediatric ICU under the Pediatric Department, A Burn ward for female Burn patients under Dept. of Surgery and a sonology section in Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The building of KR Hospital is build around a quadrangle which has a beautiful fountain and garden in center. The main entrance to the building has a small foyer which has a lift on one side and staircase on other side. The wards can be reached from all the wings upto second floor. There is formation of new neonatology wing (nursery) and also the pediatric ICU with latest gazette. It has Gynaecology and obstetric wards, Children wards, Children ICU, children surgical ward, female Orthopaedics ward, female surgical and burn ward and female ENT ward. 

Neurosurgery Hospital

Neurosurgery is being performed here since 1958. The greatest stalwart in this field has been Professor Dr. R. S. Sharkar because of whom generations of students of this college took up the specialty of Neurosurgery. This department has a totally separate building and is at present having 100 beds. The department imparts super specialty training in Neurosurgery and seven M.ch. students have already passed out and most of them are very well placed. The department has all the facilities available for modern Neurosurgery.

Madhav Dispensary

An out door department was required for the patients so that they can avail consultation free of cost. In view of that a separate dispensary for about 1500 patients was built for the Jaya Arogya Hospital. This was across the road of JA Hospital campus. This out door patient department (OPD) has consultation facility in all the faculties of  was required so as to accommodate new increased no. of departments and residents for the consultation.  This was made in the campus and along with this a new block for radiology was built. This Radiology block had five X-ray machines and facility for angiography and special invasive investigations. Madhav Dispensary was made around two quadrangle lawns so that good sunlight and ventilation in the room could be maintained. This also accommodated causality and space for medical shop was also provided. The causality works 24 hours and OPD works from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. There is also made provision for vaccination of the kids and other and thus a section for Preventive and Social Medicine is kept. The OPD also housed the rehabilitation center for handicaps and prosthesis designing unit and a physiotherapy section under Dept. Of Orthopedics. A minor operation theatre was also made with aim of doing small surgical procedures in the OPD itself so as to save the time of patient s and prevent over burden over the main operation theatre in the main hospital. This also carries works as dressing of small wounds and injection room. A general duty room was made for the patients who just want to have their BP and weight checked under the supervision of Dept. of P.S.M.

    The MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body 

     There will be four rounds of AIQ counseling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, AIQ Mop-up Rounds and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India). All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) will be eligible for participation in the counselling process. Eligible candidates may download the Rank letter/ Result from NBE website

    Steps of MCC NEETPG Counseling 

    ROUND 1

    Main counseling Registration  ( https://mcc.nic.in/#/home )which will include payment of Non Refundable Registration fee and Refundable Security Deposit (to be refunded only in the account from which payment has been made).

    NOTE: Upgradation: Candidates willing to upgrade from Round 1 to Round 2 have to report at the allotted college of round 1 and complete the admission formalities. During the completion of admission formalities, the candidate has to give willingness for upgradation in the college. 

    ROUND 2

    • Candidates who registered for Round-1 and did not get any seat allotted are not required to register again.
    • Candidates who have Resigned / Not reported in Round-1 need not register again.

    Who registered in Round-2 & exited with Forfeiture of fees without joining can register again with payment of fees. However, candidates who have already joined and taken admission upto Round-2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/DNB will not be eligible to participate in Mop Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. (Those who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round-1 & Round-2 need not register again).

    2) Directorate of Medical Education, MP (State Domicile) (50%)

    MP NEET MDS/ PG counselling is being conducted by the Department of Medical Education (DME) on behalf of the Government of Madhya Pradesh to provide admission into MD/MS/MDS and PG Diploma courses in medical/dental colleges. There will be four rounds of counseling i.e. Round 1, Round 2,  Mop-up Rounds and  Stray Vacancy Round. All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) will be eligible for participation in the counselling process.

    Reservation for woman candidates shall be 30% of total seats in each category according to merit cum option in the respective category. This reservation shall not be made institute wise or subject wise.
