The Government Medical College, Anantnag, is a Government College established in the Year 2019. TThe college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC)  and is affiliated with the University of Kashmir. Government Medical College, Srinagar offers 100 seats in MBBS. The hospital associated with the college is one of the largest hospitals in the Anantnag.It is associated with the District Hospital Anantnag, (MMABH).The departments, classrooms, library, and laboratories are housed in airy, bright, and well-ventilated buildings.GMC Anantnag has a separate central library having seating arrangement of 50 students and has approximately 4000 books. Government Medical College, Anantnag are built on a 12 acres having hostel facility within the perimeter.

 District Hospital Anantnag is a tertiary care multi-specialty hospital attached to the College. Hospital is a one-stop destination for advanced healthcare and medical requirements. District Hospital Anantnag facilities provide emergency, outpatient, inpatient, day-care, community outreach. The hospital offers all the modern, diagnostic, and therapeutic facilities .District Hospital Anantnag provides a Variety of Clinical services in the departments of Medicine surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopedics, Radiology, and Dermatology.  This hospital not only provides excellent clinical services for a population of more than 4 lakh in surrounding but also provides excellent facilities for teaching and training of medical Under-Graduate.

Admission Process

Government Medical College, Anantnag -NEETPG Counseling is Conducted by 1) MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)( Open To All )and 2)  Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) (State Domicile)

1) MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) COUNSELING PROCESS:-

The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body 

Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the  documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC

Step Wise Counseling Process conducted by MCC

 There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2,  Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB,  are conducted by MCC  through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

  3. The candidate is not satisfied with the present allotment and wishes to participate in the next round of counselling. The previously allotted seat is forfeited and offered to the next eligible candidate
  4. Not satisfied with MCC allotted seat and candidate has got seat elsewhere, so candidate is quitting and not to be considered for allotment of seats in any of the further rounds

2nd Round :- (AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB)

Fresh Registration for Mop-up Round (not required for earlier resigned candidates)

2 ) The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE)  MBBS PG Admission - (50%)

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) conducts the combined (Government and Private) admissions for J&K PG medical. In order to participate in the admission process, it is necessary to fill The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) (BOPEE medical application form in the online mode (https://jkbopee.gov.in/).

STEPS FOR COUNSELLING PROCESS

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), J&K is conducting three rounds of Counselling for NEET PG 

  1. FIRST ROUND
  2. SECOND ROUND
  3. THIRD ROUND (ON-LINE)
  4. STARY VACANCY ROUND

ROUND -1

  • Jammu and Kashmir state merit, NEET-PG
  • Online submission of application form for MBBS-PG courses
  • College wise & category wise distribution of P.G. seats

  • List of registered candidates for online counseling.

  • Provisional select list of candidates (round 1), PG courses.

ROUND -2 (Physical Counselling)

  • Notice-2nd round of counseling, PG courses

  • Provisional selection list of candidates for NEET PG-counseling in the state of J&K after Round-2

Only such candidates shall be eligible to participate in the second round of Physical Counselling as mentioned below:-

  1. Who have joined the course/college/institution allotted during first round of online counselling
  2. The candidates who did not get a seat during the first round of counselling/who did not get a seat due to choice not available/Seat not available (CNA/SNA) in the first round of online counselling;
  3. Those who figure in the PML but did not participate during the first round of online counselling.
  4. In case the candidates are not upgraded on the basis of fresh preferences given by them, they shall retain the seat allotted to them during first round of online counselling. However, if a candidate is upgraded as per the preferences filled in by him/her during the physical round of counselling, the seat allotted to him/her during the first online round of counselling shall be added to the seat matrix at that relevant point of time and allotted on the basis of merit cum preference and the candidate shall have no claim whatsoever on the seat held by him/her prior to his/her upgradation.
  5. The seat shall be allotted to the candidates who participate in the counselling at relevant point of time on the basis of merit-cum-preference. In case any candidate • fails to appear in the counselling at his/her turn he/she shall lose claim on the seat available which shall be allotted to the next available candidate in order of merit. However, such a candidate who misses the counselling on his/her turn and reports at a later date/time than of his/her turn during the counselling period shall only be considered against the seat(s), which is/are available at that point of time.
  6. Those who are participating for the first time in the counselling shall have to pay fee of Rs. 2000/- through POS machines available in the BOPEE Offices, Srinagar/Jammu on their respective date of counselling.
