Government Dental College, Srinagar is one of the reputed Govt. Dental Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. The college is popularly known as GDC Srinagar and was founded in the year 1985-86. The college is affiliated with University of Kashmir, Sri Nagar and is approved by Dental Council of India, Govt. of India. The GDC Sgr is comprising of six blocks, Registration Block, Ancillary Block, Canteen/Recreation block, two water sumps and Multilevel Parking Block. The hospital is equipped with Central heating system and lifts. Girls Hostel at Shreen Bagh Srinagar ,Boys Hostel cum Residential Flats at Bemina Srinagar(2 Kms away from college premises, near Boys hostel for Government Dental College, Srinagar).Common room: The hostel has common room with indoor gaming facilities available for residents. Library of this institution was established in the year 1986 with a little stock but tremendous aspirations

    Government Dental College, Srinagar MDS (Master Degrees in Dental Sciences ) Counseling is conducted by 1) MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)( Open To All )and 2) Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) (State Domicile)

    1 ) MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)(50%) (Open To All )

    The MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (MDS) examination conducting body 

     There will be four rounds of AIQ counseling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, AIQ Mop-up Rounds and AIQ Stray Vacancy Round (SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India). All candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET MDS conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) will be eligible for participation in the counselling process.     Step of MCC NEETMDS Counseling 

    ROUND 1

    Main counseling Registration  ( https://mcc.nic.in/#/home )which will include payment of Non Refundable Registration fee and Refundable Security Deposit (to be refunded only in the account from which payment has been made).

    • Candidates who registered for Round-1 and did not get any seat allotted are not required to register again.
    • Candidates who have Resigned / Not reported in Round-1 need not register again.

    Who registered in Round-2 & exited with Forfeiture of fees without joining can register again with payment of fees. However, candidates who have already joined and taken admission upto Round-2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/DNB will not be eligible to participate in Mop Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. (Those who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round-1 & Round-2 need not register again).

    NOTE :- List of Registered Candidates ten times the number of Stray vacancies to be sent to Deemed University to be exhausted strictly in order of merit. 

    FINAL STRAY VACANCY ROUND 

    (There will be no Fresh Registration of Candidates in Final Stray Vacancy Round. 
    There will be no choice filling in Stray Vacancy Round. The choices filled during Mop-Up round will be considered for allotment in Stray Vacancy Round.

    2) The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE)  MDS Admission (50%)(State Domicile)

    The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) conducts the combined (Government and Private) admissions for J&K MDS . In order to participate in the admission process, it is necessary to fill The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE medical application form in the online mode (https://jkbopee.gov.in/).

    Eligibility Of Candidates

    The candidate must be a resident of UT of J&K or Ladakh as the case may be 
    The candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under Central Pool Seats) to do MBBS/BDS from Medical Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir shall be eligible for All India 50% Quota seats. Such candidates must have to submit a duly signed undertaking to the prescribed authority declaring that he/she was nominated by the Government of India (Central Pool Seats) to do MBBS/BDS from Medical College in Jammu and Kashmir. 
    The candidate must possess MBBS/BDS (as the case may be) degree from the University of Jammu/ University of Kashmir or an equivalent degree recognized by University of Jammu/University of Kashmir and Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India and also registered with Medical/Dental Council (as the case may be).The MCI/DCI/SMC/SDC registration is mandatory for NEET-PG/ MDS 2022 qualifying candidates. Registration Certificate should be produced as per notice or as may be notified by the NBE; 
    The candidate must have completed, by or before 31-07-2023, satisfactorily one year preregistration compulsory rotator internship in a duly recognized institution as laid down by the University of Jammu/University of Kashmir for registration as a Medical/Dental graduate. As cut-off date of having completed internship has already been mentioned by NBE while inviting applications for online test, BOPEE is, therefore, not competent to alter this date and take it beyond 31-07-2023;
    The candidate must fulfill such conditions as laid down in NBE Information Brochure, 2023, if the candidate has passed MBBS/BDS from outside the country -Only such candidates shall be considered for admission for MD/MS/PG Diploma/MDS Courses who have qualified NEET 2022, held by National Board of Examinations and figure in the Provisional Merit List; 

    For being eligible to be called for counselling for Online/offline submission of Preference, as may be decided by the Board, candidates belonging to:-

    1. “OM” category must have scored minimum marks at 50th percentile as mentioned
    2. Reserved categories viz SC/ST and Socially and Educationally backward classes (RBA/ALC/IB/PSP/OSC) must have scored a minimum of 40th percentile as mentioned.
    3. Categories, CDP, JKPM, EWS and SP shall be considered only if they have scored minimum of 50th percentile marks/qualifying score as laid down by the NBE;
    4. Subject to the conditions of eligibility as laid down in MCI-PG regulations candidates who have served in difficult areas shall be awarded weight-age on the basis of marks as may be awarded to them in accordance with the SRO 48 of 2018 only if they have served in areas notified as per SRO 201 of 2006 (Annexure “A”).

    STEPS FOR COUNSELLING PROCESS

    The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE), J&K is conducting three rounds of Counselling for NEET MDS

    1. FIRST ROUND
    2. SECOND ROUND
    3. MOP-UP ROUND (OFF-LINE)

    ROUND -1

    • Jammu and Kashmir state merit, NEET-MDS
    • Online submission of application form for NEET MDS courses
    • College wise & category wise distribution of MDS seats
    • Document verification
    • List of registered candidates for online counseling.
    • Choice filling
    • Provisional select list of candidates (round 1), MDS courses.
    • Admission notice-round-1 counseling.
    A candidate, to whom a seat has been allotted in 1str ound,whostakes a claim for betterment of his/her choice, must initially accept allotment and join College by completing necessary formalities as set out by Rules, failing which such a candidate(s) will not be eligible to participate in second round of counselling, but may be allowed subsequently to compete against such category seats which may remain vacant and the Board may decide to fill the same from OM category candidates.

    UPGRADATION/ALLOTMENT ROUND(2ND ROUND OF COUNSELLING)

    The following procedure shall be followed in case it is decided by the Board to conduct upgradation/allotment(second round) through online counselling:- 
    • The candidates, who have been allotted a seat during first round and have joined the College/Institution, will be eligible to participate in the upgradation round of counselling;
    • The candidates who participated in the first round of counselling but could not get a seat due to (SNA)/or CNA shall be eligible to participate in the counselling;
    • The candidates eligible/desirous to participate in the upgradation/allotment round shall be required to indicate the fresh preferences for the seats proposed to be filled up (to be notified) during the said round of counselling caused due to non joining of the candidates/resignation etc;
    • The preferences indicated by the candidates earlier during the first round of counselling shall, therefore, be deemed to be cancelled and shall not be applicable for this round of upgradation/allotment;
    • The seats vacated by the candidates during the upgradation process shall automatically be added to the seats available and allotted simultaneously on the basis of merit-cum-preference, purely on day to day basis to the students whose counseling shall be held on that day(s)/dates(s) and not to those candidates who have already counseled on early day(s)/dates(s);
    • The seat allotted to a candidate in the first round, who is participating in the upgradation round shall be deemed to have been surrendered by him/her, and shall be added to the seat matrix to be filled up during second round only if he/she is upgraded and allotted a seat on the basis of upgradation. In absence of his/her upgradation, the candidate shall retain the seat allotted to him/her during the 1st round of counselling;
    • The seats left out by the OM candidate during the first round shall be allotted to the OM candidate and those left by the category candidates shall be allotted to the category candidates only during this round of counselling, provided that the seat left by the category candidate belonging to a particular category shall be allotted to the candidate belonging to that category only from which it has become available. For example if a seat in SC category is available, it will be allotted to an SC candidate only;
    • The seats additionally allowed to be filled by the MCI/Government of India, after the completion of first round of counselling and before the filling up of fresh preferences for second round of counseling shall be added to the seat matrix and filled up along with the other seats being filled up during such round

    Note:-

    (i)The candidates who join the college on the basis of first round of counselling and wish to participate in the second round of counselling should, therefore, take a very conscious decision for participation in the second round, as unnecessary participation in the process only causes delay in completion of the process.

     (ii)Board may, if it is expedient to do so, display or notify the list of candidates participating in the second round of counselling along-with the seats allotted during 1 stround of counselling. 

    MOP UP ROUND or SUBSEQUENT ROUND OF COUNSELLING:  (physical )

    • Latest vacancy position of MDS seats in Medical colleges
    • Fresh Registration
    • Mop-up counseling for seat allotment / admission will be held offline
    NOTE :-The candidates, who did not join the college on allotment of a seat after first round of counselling or on upgradation of seat and or allotment of seat during second round shall not be eligible to participate in the subsequent round of counselling. Those candidates, who have been upgraded during the second round shall not be eligible to participate in this round, notwithstanding his/her joining the College.
