The MKCG Medical College, Berhampur is a Government College established in the Year 1962. The College is affiliated to Berhampur University, located in Orissa and and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) with the annual intake of 250 seats in MBBS, 138 seats in 20 disciplines of Postgraduate studies and 4 seats in 2 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies. The medical college was set up with the basic aim of providing medical and para-medical education, to produce excellent healthcare professionals for the community, as well as to render tertiary health care to the people of south-western Odisha. 

The medical college campus spans over an area of 162 acres with building layout and floor area of 725913 sft which houses main medical college building, teaching hospital, Doctors staff Quarters, Resident doctor hostel, Boys and Girls hostel, Playground and offer Supportive facilities. There are very good spacious 5 gallery type and 3 normal Lecture halls in the college and 1 gallery type lecture hall in the hospital. The Seating Capacity of lecture halls include 7 nos. of 300 capacity, 1 no. of 650 capacity. There are  2 Examination halls with a seating capacity of 250  & Demonstration rooms. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories, Departmental Museums and fully air-conditioned Auditorium with a seating capacity 1500. Library and information center is located in a huge area of 18950 Sq.mtr. with good collection of Medical Books, Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and a Digital Library. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports with volleyball, Basketball and badminton facilities with Gymansium.

The Teaching Hospital

M.K.C.G. Medical College & Hospital operates with 23 clinical departments, 8 non-clinical and para-clinical departments and with 1190 beds. A tele-medicine unit, provided by the ISRO, is operational. MKCG Medical College and Hospital, being the only major medical institution in Southern Odisha, also serves as a referral hospital. A blood bank working 24X7 is in a separate building in the medical compound. Recently the building for Regional Diagnostic Centre was completed, and it is ready to start functioning with facilities for a variety of sophisticated diagnosis and investigation.

The hospital has two new buildings, dedicated to a trauma centre and an improved neurology department. Within the compound there is a forensic and toxicology department; a new, upgraded, mortuary, in addition to this there is a new orthopaedics building; a new paediatrics building; and a new medicine building. There has been much infrastructure development like the Central Library, New Casualty Department, Microbiology Department and Oncology Department.

OPD services are available on all the days (including Sundays and Gazetted Holidays) from 9.00 AM to 5.00PM.Various out-patient services available in the hospital are -General Medicine, Paediatrics, Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases, Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (Skin& V.D.), Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology(Eye), Oto-rhino-laryngology (ENT), Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dental Surgery, Community Medicine (Immunization, Anti-rabies Clinic), P.M.R. All routine and emergency laboratory services are available round the clock. Radio Diagnostic Services are available include X-Rays, Ultrasonography and C.T. Scan etc. Indoor patient care is catering to the needs of this city, nearby villages and also patients of the adjacent State like Andhra Pradesh.  There is a 10 bedded Intensive Care Unit for taking care of seriously ill patients.There is a 5 bedded Intensive Coronary Care Unit for cardiac patients requiring intensive treatment. There is a Labour Room for conducting deliveries round the clock. 24 x 7 Emergency O.T.facility is available.  Free diet is provided to all the indoor patients as per Odisha Govt. rules.  Every patient is provided pass for his/her attendant for security purpose.  Visitors are allowed only during visiting hours i.e., from 12.30 PM to 1.30 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
 

Super Speciality services like: Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Urology, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic surgery are available on designated days of the week.

Admission Process

1) MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) COUNSELING PROCESS:-

The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body 

Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the  documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC

Step Wise Counseling Process conducted by MCC

 There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2,  Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB,  are conducted by MCC  through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

  3. The candidate is not satisfied with the present allotment and wishes to participate in the next round of counselling. The previously allotted seat is forfeited and offered to the next eligible candidate
  4. Not satisfied with MCC allotted seat and candidate has got seat elsewhere, so candidate is quitting and not to be considered for allotment of seats in any of the further rounds
