
Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, established in 2023, is a unique private medical institution located at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. Founded with the vision of providing free, value-based medical education and accessible healthcare, the institute is widely recognized as India’s first private medical college to offer medical education and treatment completely free of cost for eligible students and patients. The institution was inaugurated in March 2023 and began its academic journey in the 2023–24 session. The institute is a constituent college of Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It offers the MBBS program with an intake of 50 students and follows a curriculum designed in accordance with NMC guidelines, combining pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical training with strong emphasis on ethics, compassion, and rural healthcare.
The college campus features a modern academic block with advanced lecture theatres, laboratories, skill labs, digital learning resources, and hostel facilities. The institution emphasizes integrated learning, hands-on practical training, and community-oriented education, preparing students to serve in rural and underserved areas where quality healthcare remains limited. Its guiding philosophy is “In Rural, For Rural,” reflecting its commitment to improving healthcare access in remote communities. The institute is supported by a teaching hospital equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment facilities that provide comprehensive healthcare services to the local population. The hospital offers departments in general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, ENT, dermatology, anesthesiology, and other specialties. Students receive extensive clinical exposure through outpatient departments, ward postings, emergency care, and supervised patient interactions.
