Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), formerly the Himachal Pradesh Medical College (HPMC), Located in the centre of the city in Lakkar Bazaar is a state-owned medical college and hospital in Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh which was established in 1966. It is one of the most prestigious institute in the state which provides qualitative and better health services to the people. The college is Affiliated to the prestigious university of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh University and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) with an annual intake of 120 MBBS seats, 138 seats in 26 disciplines of Postgraduate studies and 7 seats in 4 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies.

The Medical College and Hospital is located in a beautiful breathtaking surroundings with the main medical college building, teaching hospital, Doctors staff Quarters, Resident doctor hostel, Boys and Girls hostel, Playground and offer Supportive facilities located in a sprawling area over 19.2 acres. There are very good spacious gallery type Lecture halls in the college and in the hospital. There are Examination halls, Common rooms for Boys and Girls & Demonstration rooms. The Institute is fully equipped with clinical Laboratories, Departmental Museums and Auditorium. Library and information center is located in a huge area with good collection of Medical Books, Indian & Foreign Journals with separate reading space for students & Teaching Staff and a Digital Library. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports with volleyball and badminton facilities. 

The Teaching Hospital

The teaching hospitals is a 800 bedded tertiary care hospital with 24X7 emergency and trauma care facility, Eye bank and blood bank facilities are available. The Hospital sees huge number of footfalls everyday in the OPD and IP admissions. On an average the Hospital registers more than 1500+ OPD everyday and in the year 2020 the total number of OPD record was crossing 4.25 lakhs. There are very good clinical and modern diagnostic facilities in the Hospital. The Hospital has facilities for burn treatment, Critical care services, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Forensic Medicine. Super-Speciality departments include: Cardiology, Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Facio Maxillary & Dialysis.

Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Department Of Medical Education And Research Himachal Pradesh MBBS PG courses Admission - 

The Department of Medical Education & Research shall conduct Common Centralized Counseling through Centralized Counseling Committee constituted by the State Government for filling-up of 50% State Quota PG (MD / MS) Degree seats in Govt. Medical Colleges and Private Medical colleges of the State of Himachal Pradesh as per State merit drawn by the Centralized Counseling Committee (MD /MS) on the basis of marks/ score NEET-PG ( www.igmcshimla.edu.in )

STEP FOR COUNSELING PROCESS

  1. FIRST ROUND
  2. SECOND ROUND
  3. MOP ROUND (OFF-LINE)

ROUND -1

  • Application for Pre-Counseling & Online Fee Payment
  • Document Verification (Manual/Online)
  • Eligible list & seat matrix publication - Round 1
  • Registration, Choice Filling and Locking of Choices
  • Seat Allotment Process – Round 1
  • Result Publication - Round 1
  • Reporting for admission at the Allotted Institution – Round 1.

ROUND 2

  • Application Online Fee Payment (who have not done in Round 1)
  • Document Verification (Manual) (who have not done in Round 1)
  • Eligible list & seat matrix publication - Round 2
  • Registration (who have not done in Round 1), Choice Filling and Locking of Choices
  • Seat Allotment Process - Round 2
  • Result Publication - Round 2
  • Reporting for admission at the Allotted Institution - Round 2

*The candidates who opted the seat afresh during the 2nd round of Centralized Counselling in Government MedicalColleges of the State, are required to be deposited Rs. 25,000/- (for General category) and Rs. 12,500/-( for SC/ ST category) candidates in cash /Bank Draft as Registration fee with the authorities of Member Secretary of Centralized Counseling Committee before allotment of seat failing which seat will not be allotted to him/her .

* However, no candidate shall be allowed to participate in the Mop up and subsequent round ( if any) of Centralized Counselling after seat was allotted to him/her during the 1st and 2nd round of Centralized Counselling in the State of Himachal Pradesh .

After allotted of seat afresh ( no up gradation from one specialty to other in order of merit ) during the 2nd round of Centralized Counselling , if such candidate joined the course within stipulated joining period, the said registration fee shall be adjusted in tuition fee by the concerned college and such candidate shall not be eligible for subsequent round of Centralized Counselling/ Mop up round of counseling. If candidate do not joined, then the registration fee will be forfeited. However, such candidate is eligible to participate in the subsequent round of Centralized Counseling /Mop up round in order of merit

*Candidates who opted the seat afresh during the 2 nd round of Centralized Counselling in Private Medical college are required to be deposited Rs. 2,00,000/- in the shape of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Maharishi Markandeshwer Medical College, Solan as Registration fee with the authorities of Member Secretary of Counseling Committee before allotment of seat failing which seat will not be allotted .If such candidate joined the course, the said registration fee shall be adjusted in tuition fee b

MOP UP ROUND (OFFLINE/ONLINE)

  1. Application for Counseling & Online Fee Payment (who have not done in Round 1 / Round 2)
  2. Document Verification (Manual/Online) (who have not done in Round 1 / Round 2)
  3. Eligible list & seat matrix for manual mop up (centralized)
  4. Manual centralized mop up seat allotment
