The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh, is the constituent medical college of Aligarh Muslim University, established in the Year 1961. The College is affiliated to Aligarh Muslim University, located in Uttar Pradesh with the annual intake of 150 seats in MBBS, 220 seats in 23 disciplines of Postgraduate studies and 6 seats in 2 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies. The college is ranked 15th among medical colleges in India in 2021 & 2020 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and 19th by India Today.
The Medical College and Hospital is located in a sprawling campus of over 60 acres with an excellent infrastructure. It has technology-infused Gallery type Lecture halls, Demonstration halls, Common rooms for Boys and Girls, Examination hall. It has latest Medical Skills Labs, Auditorium and Departmental museums. The well-equipped, modernized, and latest Technology-driven equipment make the Laboratory unique. Cafeteria and Recreation halls are amongst the best. There are separate hostel facilities for Boys and Girls. The Central Library is located in three floors acquires huge volumes of books of over 50000 and National and International journals. The collection includes Textbooks, Atlases, Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopaedias, Technical Reports and has an excellent facility of E- Library with separate Departmental libraries as well. There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games and Sports. The College is also running various programmes sponsored by UNICEF, WHO, National AIDS Control Organization, ICMR, Tuberculosis Control, ART Centre (HIV), Save the Children, JIV Daya Foundation, Suraksha Clinic, SMILE Train, Diabetic Education and Awareness, Malnutrition Treatment Unit, Urban Health Initiative, National Polio Surveillance Programme etc.
The Teaching Hospital
The Teaching hospital has an ever increasing attendance of 6,52,223 patients in 22 OPDs in 2014. The male patients attending the OPDs were 3,23,458 whereas 3,28,765 were female. 55127 patients were admitted in 22 wards of the hospital. A total of 15803 Operations were performed at the hospital. The administrative duties of the Emergency Section are performed by the Casualty Medical Officer whereas the clinical management is by the doctors of respective units of the Clinical specialities/ Departments on rotation basis. There were nearly 43,000 patients turning up in the Emergency Section. 6,63040 laboratory investigations were done for patients suffering from various diseases/conditions. 1,68, 486 investigations were done at the X-ray and related sections. It is noteworthy that out of these 29,473 were done free of cost (after following the laid down rules and procedures of the hospital) to the poor and needy patients who could not afford to pay.
The Hospital Blood Bank has been rated excellent among all Blood Banks running in the state of Uttar Pradesh since 2011 by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare run National AIDS Control Organization (NACO). The Hospital has facilities for burn treatment, Critical care services, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's general specialities include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Forensic Medicine. Super-Speciality departments include: Cardiology, Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Facio Maxillary & Dialysis.
In an effort to provide state of the art infrastructure and the equipments for efficient working of the doctors and paramedical staff in the interest of patient care, the hospital is being upgraded with medical and surgical facilities under PMSSY. The construction of the Trauma Centre, OPD block, Cardiothoracic and Cardiology block, new Gynaecology and Obstetrics block has been completed and will be fully functional very shortly. 219 Beds are being added under PMSSY Scheme.

The MCC (Medical Counselling Committee)/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. 5. In case of any dispute or vagueness DGME can constitute a special medical board for dispute redressal. |
6. Candidate eligible for the reserved category will be given admission as per rules of the state government, applicable on the date of counseling. |
7. OBC candidates covered by the provisions of the creamy layer will not be entitled for the benefits of OBC category |
8. Candidates who fail to produce required original documents at the time of admission or if any, concealment or falsification of facts comes into the light at the time of admission and thereafter during the course of study will not be entitled to any benefit of having appeared in the entrance examination and/ or any benefit or acquiring a seat subsequently. Legal action would be taken against such candidates. " |
9. Candidates will be checked for their identity at the time of admission. If it does not match it will be counted as unfair means and their candidature will be cancelled. Additional legal action would be taken against such candidates. |
10. If candidate does not participate in online counseling or does not take admission to the allotted seat by the due date he/she shall forfeit any right of admission on the basis of said counseling/allotment. |
11. The option once exercised by the candidate in the online counseling cannot be altered under any circumstances. |
12. No request for re-allotment of seals already allotted in the first and second round will be entertained. |
If seats are left un-allotted at the end of the second round of online counseling, then a “mop up” round of allotment will be organized at a notified date, after due publicity. The purpose of the mop up round of seat allotment will be to ensure that there is no loss of PG seats in the current academic year.
